Due to the difficult financial situation, Nissan may cease to exist. This can happen in just 12 months. Such forecasts were provided to the Financial Times by one of the top managers of the Japanese brand.

According to the expert, the brand will only be able to survive if it can find a major investor, which could be a bank or a large insurance group. Otherwise other automakers will swallow Nissan.

The severe lack of financing in the company arose after Renault decided to reduce its stake in Nissan through the sale of shares. Previously, the French owned 46% of the shares.

In addition to the investments of banks and insurance groups, the brand’s management is considering the possibility of selling part of its shares in Honda. Meanwhile, even Renault may transfer its assets from Nissan to Honda.

It should be noted that the former head of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance Carlos Ghosn previously stated that Honda will absorb its partners in the future. Then the top manager reported that the consolidation of three Japanese companies could become part of Honda’s plan to secretly absorb smaller brands.

At the end of July, Nissan actually reduced the volume of car production at its Japanese factory. The brand management took this step due to a serious decline in profits.
