Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciulacu said that the Social Democratic Party, which won the parliamentary elections, will not form an alliance with the second political force – the nationalist “Alliance for the Unity of Romanians”.
Asked whether he would hold discussions to obtain a parliamentary majority with George Simeon’s party or with the “Union to Save Romania” led by Elena Lasconi, he replied: “I have ruled out such an alliance with the ‘Alliance for the Unity of Romanians’.”
Colacu specified that after Sunday’s vote, the Social Democratic Party, the National Liberal Party, the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania and the minority group have a majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, BTA news agency reported.
Earlier this evening, the Romanian Prime Minister refused to comment on whether the Social Democratic Party would support a candidate in the second round of the presidential election on Sunday. “The people themselves will decide on December 8 what is best for Romania,” Marcel Colaco noted.
