US President-elect Donald Trump will visit Paris on Saturday to participate in the opening ceremony of the restored Notre Dame Cathedral, which was destroyed by a major fire five years ago. This will also be his first trip abroad after winning the White House elections, Reuters reported.

The Republican, who won the November 5 election and is expected to take office on January 20, praised French President Emmanuel Macron’s government in a social media post.
“President Macron has done an amazing job making sure Notre-Dame is restored to its full, if not greater, glory. It will be a very special day for everyone!” he wrote in his podium message.

Notre-Dame de Paris, as the name of the cathedral translates, is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture and one of the most beloved and most visited monuments in the French capital. On Saturday, it will open its doors again to tourists and faithful Catholics.
Thanks to major renovations, the 12th-century cathedral has been completely restored, including the tower, rib vaults, flying buttresses, stained glass and stone gargoyles, and the white and gold stone decorations shine brighter than ever.
