On the fifth night in a row of protests, thousands of demonstrators gathered again outside parliament in the capital, waving Georgian and European Union flags and chanting “Georgia.”

Police moved quickly to disperse the crowds, firing tear gas at demonstrators, some of whom threw firecrackers at law enforcement.

The demonstrators dispersed in the surrounding streets, but later reorganized their ranks a few kilometers from the parliament building. There was also a protest in Batumi, Georgia’s second largest city, where students and youth are very active.
